Carpet cleaning in Horsham costs £36 a bedroom, and a living room is £43. The method is hot water extraction: hot cleaning solution is pushed into the pile and sucked back out through the same wand, bringing the dirt with it. Stairs are £41 a flight, and a through lounge (two rooms opened into one) is £61.
| Room or item | Price |
|---|---|
| Bedroom | £36 |
| Living room | £43 |
| Through lounge | £61 |
| Stairs, per flight | £41 |
| Rug up to 3 sq m | £35 |
| Rug over 3 sq m | £51 |
There’s a £67 minimum on one off jobs, so a single bedroom booked alone is charged at £67. Add a second room and you’re past it. A carpeted hall is £22 and a landing £9, both worked with the small hand tool.
Extraction, and the two methods we skip
Some firms use a rotary bonnet, which is a spinning pad that polishes the tips of the fibres. It looks lovely for a fortnight, then the grey comes back. Others brush in a dry powder and vacuum it out, which only gets part of the way down. Neither gets down to the sandy grit lodged low in the tufts, which is what grinds a carpet thin under everyday feet. Extraction is slower and noisier and leaves the carpet damp for a while. It also takes the dirt out of the house with it.
Chipboard floors on the post-2005 estates
Much of Broadbridge Heath, Wickhurst Green and Southwater was built from the 2000s on, with fitted carpet and underlay laid on chipboard sheets upstairs. Soak chipboard and it swells for good. In those houses we put down less solution and do more drying passes, which takes us longer and costs you the same £36 a room. If your house dates from roughly 2005 or later we’ll assume chipboard unless you tell us different. Solid ground floors in the older part of town don’t need that care, and the wand moves at its usual speed.
Wool in the old houses, synthetics on the estates
Period houses around The Causeway and the Carfax often have wool or a wool mix. It cleans up very well and takes ages to dry. New-build carpet is mostly polypropylene, which shrugs off water and bleach but clings to greasy dirt in the walkways, so it needs a pre-spray left to work for a while first. We check which one you have before starting, as it changes the chemicals, the pressure and how long you’ll wait before walking on it.
Stairs are a flat £41
A lot of the 1930s and postwar semis in Roffey and Littlehaven have stairs that turn at a half landing, with wedge-shaped steps in the corner. The big wand won’t sit flat on those, so each one is done by hand. One flight takes roughly as long as a bedroom. A straight staircase in a newer house is quicker and costs the same; pricing per step would be daft. In a house split into two flats, each staircase is £41.
Mud off the Downs Link, leaves in Mannings Heath
At Slinfold the Downs Link path follows the old railway, and homes near it get field mud walked in by boots and dogs from October to March. It heads down the hall and into the first room. Dry mud comes out well because it’s loose soil sitting in the pile, and much of it vacuums up before we even start. Wet mud trodden in and left to dry in layers is harder. Our advice is to let it dry and hoover it, and sometimes that’s enough on its own. In Mannings Heath the trouble is wet leaves, which leave a brown tannin stain a vacuum won’t lift and which sets if it’s left over winter.
Drying
Give it roughly two hours before anyone crosses it in socks, and keep heavy furniture off until the evening. A window open helps on a dry day. Horsham water is hard, around 225 ppm, and a hard-water rinse can dry to a faint white bloom in wool, so we soften the water that goes through the machine. On a damp February afternoon with the windows shut it will take longer. That’s normal.
Rugs
Rugs up to 3 sq m are £35 and larger ones £51. We clean them in place if the floor beneath can cope. Jute and hessian backings can shrink or let colour run into a light carpet, so a corner gets tested first and we wait to see what happens. If it looks risky we’ll leave it alone and tell you why.
Stains
Each mark gets a product matched to what caused it, so tell us what went on it and anything you’ve already tried. The grey lines along skirting boards and under doors, left by air drawn through the pile for years, get their own pass. Before packing up we walk you round and show you what has lifted.
Booking carpets with another job
At the end of a tenancy, book carpets alongside the move-out clean and we’ll do them last, after the rest of the house, so nobody tramps over wet carpet all afternoon. Added to a move-out they also cost less: £29 a bedroom, £36 a living room and £35 a flight. For a house that has been neglected over several lets, a team deep clean from £186 often does more good than carpets alone. There’s no travel charge anywhere in RH12 or RH13. Call 020 8077 6947 from 8am to 7pm any day, and the full figures are on the price list.
Questions we get asked
How long do carpets take to dry?
Around two hours until they’re fine for socks. Heavy furniture should wait until later in the day, and a cold spell with the windows shut drags it out.
Can I book a single room?
Yes, though one off jobs have a £67 minimum, so a £36 bedroom on its own costs £67. Put the stairs (£41) or a living room (£43) alongside it and the minimum is cleared.
Is it safe on carpet laid over chipboard?
Yes, if it’s done carefully. Chipboard swells when soaked, so upstairs on the newer estates we use less solution and more suction. The carpet feels slightly damp afterwards, never wet, and the price stays the same.
What do rugs cost?
£35 for up to 3 sq m and £51 for bigger ones, cleaned where they lie. We test natural backings like jute first, as they can shrink or bleed colour.
Do you move furniture?
We move sofas, beds and chairs and set them back on protective pads. Please empty wardrobes and put anything fragile in another room before we arrive.
Will red wine come out?
Often from synthetic carpet, less often from wool, where the dye grabs quickly. Old stains that have had a shop-bought spot remover on them are the hardest, so tell us what’s been used.
