Oven cleaning in Horsham

In Horsham we charge £77 to clean a single oven. Doubles are £110, while 90cm ranges and two oven AGAs are £143. A single wide oven costs £114. Racks, trays, runners, pan supports and the fan cover all come out and soak while someone works on the cavity, seals and door glass, and the whole job happens in your kitchen.

Each cooker has one price. A grill compartment above the main oven doesn’t turn a single into a double. The £67 minimum on one off work never affects an oven, although a hob (£23 ceramic, £28 gas) or an extractor (£28) booked alone is charged at £67, so people usually tack those onto another job.

Parts soaked, the rest by hand

Anything that lifts out goes in to soak. Not every team works the same way here: a few bring a heated tank on the van and use it when there’s room to park beside the house, and the rest soak everything indoors, for the same price. Ask when you book if you’d like to know which. The fixed parts get scraped, coated in gel, left to soak and wiped back at the worktop: the inside of the oven, the door seals, and the inner door glass where the hinges let the panes come apart. Parts go back in rinsed and dry, so you can cook that evening, though you may smell a little burning in the first hour as leftover carbon comes off the element. It stops.

Eye-level singles and freestanding cookers

The estate houses at Broadbridge Heath, Wickhurst Green and Southwater mostly came with a built-in single oven at eye level. Many have a fascia panel that has to come off and telescopic runners with grease hidden underneath. Once you know the model they’re quick, and we’ve met most of them. The older houses in the middle of town are another matter. You’ll often find a freestanding cooker in the old chimney recess, sometimes with a separate grill on top, and when it’s pulled out there are years of spills down the sides of the units. Both are £77. The old one might take ninety minutes longer.

Ranges and AGAs out in the villages

We clean 90cm ranges far more often in Mannings Heath, Warnham and Slinfold than in flats near the station, and two oven AGAs are nearly always country kitchens. An AGA must be stone cold on arrival, so switching it off at teatime the day before is safest. Ranges take longer than their price next to a double would suggest. We’d rather price them fairly up front than add charges on the day.

Hobs and cooker hoods

For £28 we strip a gas hob: caps, burner crowns and pan supports are lifted off to soak, and we clean the tray underneath. A quick wipe of the hob is part of any kitchen clean and costs nothing. Ceramic and induction tops (£23) get a cream cleaner and a careful scraper, as a scratch on those is permanent. An extractor is £28 with the filters soaked and the hood degreased. In the extended kitchens at the back of many Roffey semis, the extractor is often the dirtiest thing in the house because the filter sits above eye level and nobody thinks about it. A big island hood gets priced when we see it, since some come apart in minutes and some take half an hour of screws above your head.

Market days in the town centre

The Carfax markets run Thursday and Saturday, roughly 9am to 5pm, and the Saturday farmers’ market has more than 40 stalls. The carriageway is shut while they trade, so a town-centre oven on either day is booked early or after the stalls pack up. The price doesn’t move.

A filthy oven costs the same

We don’t charge more because your oven is bad. A single is £77 whether it was last cleaned in the spring or ten years ago, which is the whole point of a fixed price, and there’s no need to attack it with a supermarket spray beforehand. Time is the variable. A thick carbon crust needs a second coat of gel and a longer soak, so we allow two hours and sometimes use every minute. Tell us if it has never been cleaned and we’ll plan for the longer visit.

Self-cleaning liners

Catalytic and pyrolytic liners have a rough coating that soaks up chemicals, so they get careful hand work with water and detergent and stay out of the soak, which protects the coating. If we notice a tired door seal while we’re at it, we’ll mention it.

Adding an oven to another booking

If you’re moving out, the oven isn’t part of the end of tenancy clean. Book it with that clean and it goes on at £31, so a two bedroom move-out with the oven done comes to £274. Customers on weekly or fortnightly cleaning tend to have the oven done once a year, often in October before the Sunday roasts start. Two jobs in one visit usually work out cheaper, since the oven parts can be soaking while other work carries on and the £67 minimum only applies once.
